So no congregations in the U.K. are showing it live this weekend, or playing a recording the day after, like they have done in previous years?

Solomon's gold mines called a myth but there's one so-called prophecy that always makes me stop and think
by Isambard Crater inthe authenticity of the old testament account of solomon is being called into question in the news media:.
http://www.christianpost.com/news/king-solomons-fabulous-hidden-gold-mines-are-a-myth-historian-says-194663/.
for the most-part, i don't really want to believe the bible as true, certainly not the j.w version including their stubbornness over 607 and 1914. but there's one prophecy that always makes me stop and wonder if maybe some of the bible was inspired by god, if he or she exists.

Interesting, Phizzy
Is there any commentary or analysis of it that you can point me to online?

But there's one prophecy that always makes me stop and wonder if maybe some of the bible was inspired by God, if he or she exists. It's the one about Alexander the Great's power going to four generals, as J.W's are told was foretold in Daniel:
I guess Daniel's statue always makes me stop and think too because of how the J.W's say the feet are fragmented coalition governments, which we have definitely seen more of in recent times politically.
I'm pretty much looking for someone to shoot these Daniel prophecies down but am open to all ideas.

Has Philippians 4 versus 6 and 7 actually helped anyone?!
by Isambard Crater inif i received a dollar for every time an elder had told me to read and meditate on this scripture over the years, i would be really wealthy.
maybe when i was a kid, scriptures like this made me feel a little bit better, but once i had learned ttatt and also lost my faith in god, or at least the borganization's version of god, scriptures like phil 4 versus 6+7 do nothing for me, but they are always, always quoted in public talks about depression, or during shepherding visits..

Over 300 DFed apparently went to a northern U.K R.C!
by Isambard Crater inthat's what i've been told by a family member (elder) who went to one of the regional conventions in the north of the u.k lately, who told me the 300 or more disfellowshipped who returned to jehovah by attending show that the end is so close, just like the final talk says..

The badges given out were the same as all the other J.W's wore. This year, because of the Manchester concert bomb and other events, security at R.C's was tightened up so everyone had to wear a lapel badge to get in. James Mixon -

Sorry for checking in so late after my OP. Yes, I was referring to Liverpool too and the number was counted from people turning up saying they were disfellowshipped or inactive, and were given lapel badges for security reasons.

But don't they realise that the "love" shown is highly conditional and they will be DFed again if they adopt any modern values whatsoever, and that being told by the leaders to avoid all worldly contact is wrong?
There's that scripture about a dog returning to it's vomit.

The WatchTower conductor lied on stage
by Isambard Crater inon sunday morning in the watchtower study, a "study" who was their for the 1st time put his hand up and said; "i have a question.
when the paragraph says give up everything, it doesn't really mean give up everything like the pearl merchant, does it, like be willing to lose my modest house, cheap car and other basics i own?
i mean, that sounds a bit much".. the watchtower conductor said in response; "no, it's just a parable and it doesn't mean give up everything.

The paragraph you've all pasted into this thread is the one I was referring to, yes.
Personally, I also took "everything" literally meaning if it was a choice between your house and clothing vs. the JW org or kingdom, you'd have to be willing to give them up - which is what got under the skin of this study in attendance.

The WatchTower Conductor said in response; "No, it's just a parable and it doesn't mean give up everything. It just means we must be willing to be like the pearl merchant, but that doesn't mean giving everything up. It's just about balance, not being excessive with big houses and fancy cars."
Erm, that was a lie, right?
